Is there any better school that mine?
When I passed beside her for the first time, in spring, I was enchanted with her exterior. There were cut fence of the plants, rouses, clean pathes, unusual schruebery, green grass without rubish around her. And, inside, when I came in, I was entachted with transparency, clean and tasty painted walls, flowers in the hall so beautiful and many years old that I have never seen anywhere. Students were swarming but everything had its place. When I came into the classroom I saw a lot of beautiful flowers at the windows. I thought: "This is house of flowers". I was offerred to come in research of the past of this school and Zivinice schoolling. This is what I’ve found out.
Till 60 s of this century, in this post-war town, there wasn’t any secondery school and children went to school in Banoviæi and Tuzla (TU). Some of them went to school by train, some of them went by bus but many went on foot. I didn-t find out who gave the idea to build secondarz school in Zivinice. Gimnasium was built.
At that time there wasn’t any interest for schoolling but there were a lot of grammar school boys and girls. After seven-eight years that school couldn’t contend needs of inhabitants. School become too narrow. Zivinice authority, in 70 s decided to build another school, not only Gimnasium but school for other occupations, too. Factory “konjuh” needed carpenters, technicians; metllic industry "MPI" needed mechanics, locksmiths, tinkers; hotel “Konjuh” needed hosts and etc. the new school was called "Secondary School Centar". I was told that in whole BIH there were three very very modern schools and one of them was this, mine. There were cabinet scholling, modern room for physical culture. Grammar school boys, carpenters, mechanics, technicians were educated in it. In 80 s a need for more occupations appeared. Gimnasium was nullified and hosts (5 generations), ecology technicians (3 generations), interpreter assistants (3 generations), economic technicians (1 geration), salesman (2 generations), bricklayers carpenters (2 generations) were educated. Later, in this school, four kind of schools were established: electrical engineering, mecanical, agricultural and woodworking oues. Later in 1995/96. Gimnasium was established again. Then this school was called "Mixed Secondery School Zivinice". Number of classes was raising every year.
The least there were 42 classes. From 1500 to 2000 students. I was told that before the war this school was the most famous school in Tuzla (TU) area. Many students who were among the best students in Tuzla (TU), Sarajevo (SA), Beograd and Novi Sad come out from my school. They were coming back to their town as experts.
They are directors, lawyers, professors, economists, engineers. Students of this school showed that they were good masters and many of them went to other counties and got on well because this school got them ready for life. But there is something very ugly in my school today. I was disappointed when I had found out how it was some time ago, and today there isn’t anything of that modern school. There aren’t computers (except two old ones), sport means of instruction, electrical equipment, agricultural and machnical equipment.
We don’t have musical instruments, microphones, cassete-recorder and etc. I asked school director wath had happened, there was and now there isn’t. he explained me that in 80’s scholling was in very bad material situation. During the time means of instruction were wore out and new ones weren’t been able to get. And then the war started. We know that Europe schoolling is very modern. But we’ve still learned using old methoods of pedagogics. I came back in the past again. There were lot of different sections in our school. Zivinice people are good sportmen and most of them passed throught our school and sport room: handballers, volleyballers, footballers, boxers, karatists. We are proud of Amir Aljic (handballer in representative team of BIH), Elnur Siocic, Dzevad Mandzic (boxers). Our students are involved in sport of our caton and further.
Our student Eldar Cokic who was a champion of physics in BIH. He s attended world olimpiada two times. Now there are 49 classes and 13 kinds of accupation. There are 1554 students. This number involves 374 students-refugees (1/4). There are 216 students without father, 24 without mother and 24 without both parents. 1025 students have to commute to school. In this school employed people have got grat heart for displaced people and refugees and to those who came back from abroad. I give you these facts that you see how our professors, director, pedagogue and others work with very difficult students categories. In this school musical, dramatic, recital section, section for decoration of school work very succefully. Literary and newspapers sections are the best. We follow everything. We go through each pore in our school life.
We invite painters to help us. We write our wall papers. We are so proud to see students to push around wall papers. We’d like to have a computer and to print our works. We wouldn’t like to write and drow on paper any more. Anyway, I am proud of my school, professors and all who worked in it.
